How did it all start? Well I believe it began with finding blue jay fledglings in the yard, booping around on the lawn and keeping our lab, Gigi from claiming a new chew toy. Amazed at the intricate balance of fragility and determination to thrive by these little ones, I set upon the continuous journey of creating a balanced mini-ecosystem in our own backyard!

Scientific terms aside, it’s easy to see how the concept of a productive, healthy ecosystem is essential to sustain life on earth. Birds needs insects and caterpillars for food, insects and caterpillars need our healthy native plants, our plants need pollinators (bees, butterflies) to sustain them, and none of them need pesticides!
